Kapil Sharma was born on 2 April 1981 in a Punjabi Brahmin family in Amritsar, Punjab, India. His father Jeetendra Kumar Punj was a head constable in Punjab Police, while his mother Janak Rani is a Housewife. He has a brother named Ashok Kumar who is constable in Punjab police and a sister Pooja Pawan Devgan. His nickname is ‘Kappu.’

He wanted to become a singer in his childhood, but later, he chose to be a comedian. He is an All Rounder in the field of singing, acting, and comedy. Kapil Sharma started his early schooling from Shri Ram Ashram Senior Secondary School, Amritsar and after school he went to Hindu College in Amritsar and Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar.

Kapil Sharma Belongs to a middle class family, his father was head constable in Punjab police. In early age He want to become a singer, but later, he chose to be a comedian. In order to manage his own and family expenses he worked in a PCO and a cloth factory for a few months. Later he started participating in comedy shows and earned huge success.

In 2006, he took part in the Punjabi comedy reality shows ‘Hasde Hasande Ravo’. and ‘The Great Punjabi Comedy Show.’ He won the comedy reality show ‘The Great Indian Laughter Challenge. After this he participated in many other comedy shows like ‘Ustaadon Ka Ustaad’, Hans Baliye, Comedy Circus, and Star Ya Rock star. Besides this he has hosted countless TV and Award shows .

He stepped into Bollywood from a special appearance with the role of Thakur’s Son in the movie “Bhavnao Ko Samjho”.

In 2015 he made his debut film “kis kisko Piyar Karoon” with the role of Kumar Shiv Ram Kishan.
